DONGKAMUKAM, March 12: The executive member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Prabhat Chandra Taro has lauded the role of women in the society.
Attending as the chief guest in the West Karbi Anglong Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha meeting at Ghilani, West Karbi Anglong, he said, “Women’s role cannot be ignored. They are in politics, sports, social work, entertainment, defence, etc. They are not only engaged in domestic work, but they are now alert and conscious about everything. In every meeting nowadays women outnumber men and for this reason, the development schemes for them are more.”
He urged women groups to bring drug addicts to the mainstream. He requested the women to be prepared for the coming parliamentary election.
Prabhari of West Karbi Anglong Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha, Nilima Teronpi said that women are not weak, but are rather strong and should remain updated.
Speech competition was held in the meeting in which Krishna Dekaraja came first; Moina Sonar came in 2nd and Bina Tissopi came in 3rd.
Sushma Swaraj Award was awarded to Kache Teronpi (Sports); Utpola Hukai (Dancer) and Mili Timungpi (teacher).
Chairman, Small Scale Industries, Pradesh BJP Member, Arun Terang; president of BJP, West Karbi Anglong District Committee, Radip Ronghang; president District (West) Mohila Morcha, Munmi Teronpi; chairman, Veterinary Development Board, Ditolal Hasnu; state BJP member Dipti Gogoi; Mohila Morcha state member Rohila Kropi and others were present in the meeting.
