DIPHU: Karbi Anglong police unearthed buried weapons from the forest of Doidak Hills Manikpur area under Dokmoka Police Station in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday night. Police are yet to find out which armed organisations hid the arms.
In a press conference held at the SP conference hall here, the SP, Sanjib Kumar Saikia said as per information received from reliable sources, the OC, Howraghat, Manjit Terang and DPS (HQ), Nahid Karishma carried out a search operation in Doidak Hills in Manikpur area on Wednesday night and unearthed the buried weapons.
The recovered weapons were one AK 56 rifle, one stand gun, two pistols, a 9 mm pistol and 0.3 pistols; nine numbers of magazines of AK-47 Rifle and 88 numbers of ammunition of AK-47 Rifle, Karbi Anglong superintendent of police Sanjib Kumar Saikia said.
“With the recovery of arms and ammunition we are trying to find out which organisations have hidden the arms,” said the SP.
On any possibility of who might have hidden the arms, the SP said, “As of now we have not received any information of the party that has hidden the arms. But we are trying and very soon it will be found out.” The SP also denied the existence of any new armed organisation in the hill districts.
