GUWAHATI, March 17: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Department of Assam today trapped a Lat Mandal red-handed in Kamrup district. The arrested person has been recognized as Tankeswar Nath immediately after he received demanded bribe from the complainant for the conversion of his ceiling land to Miyadi Patta. The accused has been working at the Office of the Circle Officer, Hajo Revenue Circle.
Earlier on March 11, The sleuths of the directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption arrested a Lat Mandal of the Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office on bribery charges in Kalaigaon of Udalguri. According to reports, the sleuths of the directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption laid a trap and apprehended Lat Mandal, Kanak Barua for demanding a bribe from the complainant for processing land mutation documents.
Prior to this, another bribery case took place on March 4 when the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing arrested three officials from three different places in Assam. After receiving three complaints regarding demands for bribes, one each from Kaliabor in Nagaon, Khanapara in Guwahati, and Matia in Goalpara, the V&AC laid traps, and successfully caught all three officials red-handed.
