TEZPUR, March 20: Sonitpur Zila Sahitya Sabha observed the World Storytelling Day with vivid programmes where many children took part in storytelling programme.
Noted social worker area inaugurated the programme with encouraging speech and lauded the efforts initiated by the literary body to boost the inherent creativity in children’s mind while retired teacher of the area Phuleswari Das lit the lantern at the very outset.

Noted musician of the area Mukut Nath and eight years-old child Dhanyam Devarshi Nath enliven the storytelling programme with presentation of songs in Mandolin and Harmonium respectively along with dance and recitation by Sarmistha Devi and Manyata Sivam Nath.
Retired teachers of the area Lila Nath, Sonali Devi and Phuleswari Das also associated with the children as storytellers. Zila Sahitya Sabha president Dr Bhupen Saikia, secretary Dulal Nath ,former president Basudev Sarma also addressed the children with their insightful mind blowing speech.
Among other dignitaries from the different field noted teacher Dulal Nath, Kalidas Nath, Dasarath Barman, Biswajit Saikia, Hari Bora, Dipu Mahanta, Dimbeswar Nath, Indranil Nath, Chena Nath, Jogeswari Devi and Jayanti Devi also attended the programme. Executive president and convenor of Kuhi district committee Sanjib Kumar Nath and Mainul Ahmed offered vote of thanks to all for their cooperation.
On the other hand, Haleswar Higher Secondary School near Tezpur also observed the World Storytelling Day and World Sparrow Day simultaneously organised under Innovative and Community Learning Hub .
Along with storytelling, drawing competitions were also held among the children. Dimbeswar Barua, a senior member of the school family encouraged and entertained the children with presentation of drama dialogue amidst storytelling in presence of Arun Kumar Singh, principal and other teachers of the school.
