Division of Indian Railways conducted a review meeting with senior officers of the division on Saturday last to ensure the safety and comfortable train journey

of travellers and devotees who are expected to attend the upcoming Sitla Puja and Basant Mela, which is going to take place at Harulongpher colony-Lumding from April 4, 2023.

It is being witnessed for long that the Basant Mela attracts huge crowds from nearby as well as far off places to Lumding every year. Hence, the railways has decided to take necessary measures including introduction of additional coaches in trains as well as necessary security arrangements at the stations to ensure a peaceful and hassle-free travel experience for devotees attending the Sitla Puja in the town.

A number of important measures are being put in place by the Railway Authority of Lumding Division, including deployment of RPF/RPSF personnel at LC Gate number ST/50 and all unauthorised crossings to prevent run over cases, etc. In addition, RPF/RPSF personnel will also be deployed in the trains to control the extra rush of passengers. To provide a helpful and smooth guidance to all the pilgrims and passengers adequate scouts & guides volunteers will be called upon who will assist the RPF.
