KOKRAJHAR, April 24: The 5th triennial conference of the Kokrajhar district committee of All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS) concluded on Sunday at Swrang High School premises in Kokrajhar with a daylong programme.

As part of the programme, president of Kokrajhar district Tribal Sangha, Chakramani Brahma hoisted the organisation flag followed by 14 primary committees while sangha vice president Lokendra Mushahary paid homage to the martyrs.
Later, an open meeting was held with Chakramani Brahma, president of the Kokrajhar district committee of tribal sangha in the chair.
President of All Assam Tribal Sangha Sukumar Basumatary attended the programme as chief guest.
Kokrajhar East MLA Lawrence Islary, BTC member Daneswar Goyary, former tribal sangha president Ranjit Kumar Borgoyary and representatives from various organisations including Bodo Sahitya Sabha, ABSU, Rabha Students Union, Garo Students Union, Dularai Bodo Harimu Afad and others attended as guests.
During the delegates’ session, various issues related to including the implementation of Scheduled Tribe and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Right) Act 2006, eviction of all illegal encroachers from tribal belts and block areas and filling up of backlog vacancies meant for scheduled tribes in various state government department, etc., were discussed.
The sangha has emphasised over the welfare and development of the tribal communities in the state and subsequently urged the state government to do the needful for the interest of indigenous tribal communities of Assam.
A new committee of Kokrajhar district committee of Tribal Sangha was formed with Anil Chandra Wary as president and Sonjit Basumatary as general secretary along with other 12 executive members.
