DIPHU, May 15: The Karbi Students Association, Diphu Regional Committee (KSA-DRC) demonstrated in their office premises at Rongnihang, Diphu-Manja Road, here on Monday against the “give and take policy’ adopted by the Assam and Meghalaya governments and the recent border problem between Assam and Meghalaya.
During the demonstration, KSA members held placards in their hands reading, ‘We won’t give one inch of Karbi Anglong land’, “The Assam police fail to protect the people and property of Karbi Anglong along the Assam-Meghalaya border’ etc., and shouted slogans.

Speaking to the media, KSA-DRC president, Litonsing Timung said, “Last week there was a problem in the border area in Assam and Meghalaya. Some miscreants from Meghalaya entered West Karbi Anglong (Assam) and tortured and burned down the properties of Karbi people. They might be the agents of the Meghalaya government to create disturbances in the bordering area.”
“The Meghalaya government led by chief minister Conrad Sangma has failed to control their people in the bordering area, we have never encroached on the land of Meghalaya, and we will stick to the government gazette notification of 1951, in which the inter-state border of Assam and Meghalaya was amicably solved,” he said.
KSA condemned the government policy of ‘give and take’. The people living in the border area are not feeling secure due to the insufficient deployment of police personnel in the area,” Timung said.
