KHERONI, May 30: The Advisor of All Assam Students Union (AASU) Samujjal Bhattacharya along with 29 other student and tribal organisations visited the Assam-Meghalaya border to take stock of the frequent tension in the inter-state border in West Karbi Anglong.
The AASU Advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya along with a large delegation was however prevented by the district administration from visiting the Assam-Meghalaya border village Mukroh for fear of deteriorating the situation.
Later, a hugely attended meeting was held at Umkhermi in West Karbi Anglong by Samujjal Bhattacharya along with Karbi Students Association (Semson Teron), AASU, Tiwa Students Union, All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), Dimasa Students Union, All Assam Tribal Sangha, Nath-Yogi Students Association etc. totalling 30 student and tribal organisations.
In the meeting recurring problems in the border were discussed and probable solutions. AASU Advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya said that a permanent solution should be executed. He interacted with the border-dwelling villagers who participated in their hundreds.
