JORHAT, April 29: Fifteen students of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) have been sent for a training-cum-exposure visit on ‘Integrating agriculture, food, nutrition and health: a real-life experiential learning approach’ to the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, United Kingdom.
An official of the University said that the training will be for 3 months under the provision of Institutional Development Plan of National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) at AAU.
The students include 12 from the Faculty of Agriculture (College of Agriculture, Jorhat, Biswanath College of Agriculture, Biswanath Chariali and Sarat Chandra Singha College of Agriculture, Dhubri) and 3 students namely, from College of Community Science, AAU, Jorhat.
The students left India on April 27 and are likely to join their courses on April 29, which will continue till the last week of July, as informed by Dr. Kishore Kumar Sharma, principal investigator, IDP, NAHEP, AAU.
The training will mainly focus on acquiring knowledge and entrepreneurial skills on agriculture and allied sectors of the European country, which can be later amended in AAU after completion of the training.
Further, the training will create opportunities for the students to pursue higher education abroad.
