The event was graced by chief guest Adv Kasung Cheda, guest of honour Dosh Dasi, and special guest Kamey Yangfo.

Their attendance, the statement noted, not only added prestige to the occasion but also reflected their continued commitment to fostering young sporting talent through the traditional format of red-ball cricket.

In his remarks, Arunachal Cricket Association President Suraj Tayam underlined the importance of Test cricket in shaping technically skilled and mentally resilient players.

He recounted the journey of the Itanagar Cricket Club (ICC), emphasising its steady efforts to promote cricket at the grassroots level and its role in inspiring a new generation of cricketers in the state.

The championship opened with a contest between the Naharlagun Junior Cricket Club Association (NJCCA) and Caden Cricket Club (CCC).

The match, however, was disrupted by bad weather and concluded under the Inter Round Robin rule, with NJCCA securing three points and CCC earning one point, thanks to NJCCA’s first-innings lead.

Batting first, CCC posted 121 in 34.2 overs, anchored by a gritty 59 from Techi Doria.

NJCCA’s bowling attack proved effective, with Myendung Singpho claiming 3 for 38 and Rajesh Rebi taking 2 for 12.

In reply, NJCCA amassed 238, bolstered by captain Teshi Tiku’s composed 46 and a rapid 44 from 28 balls by Tana James Tara.

CCC’s Gollo Aga took 4 for 50, while Doria added to his all-round performance with 3 for 57.

In the second innings, CCC reached 81 for 3 before stumps, with Licha Jhon remaining unbeaten on 19 as NJCCA’s bowlers kept the scoring rate in check.

The statement further expressed gratitude to all volunteers and organisers whose dedication ensured the smooth conduct of the ceremony and match arrangements. The next match in the tournament will feature the Itanagar Cricket Club (ICC) taking on the Arunachal Institute of Cricket (AIOC) on August 13–14 at the AIOC Ground in Jollang, Itanagar.
