ITANAGAR, Aug 8: In a high-energy event that combined cultural pride with sporting ambition, the Kameng Kings officially unveiled their team jersey and logo ahead of their debut in the Techi Tagar Arunachal T20 Championship, according to an official statement.
The launch, held in Itanagar, also served as the formal introduction of the team’s icon player — young spin sensation TNR Mohit — whose rapid rise in domestic cricket has made him one of Arunachal Pradesh’s most promising cricketers.
Representing the resilient Kameng region, the Kameng Kings are one of eight teams set to compete in the state’s premier T20 tournament, which will be staged entirely in Guwahati.
The event drew dignitaries, media personnel, cricket enthusiasts and community members from across the region, all eager to witness the beginning of the franchise’s journey.
Among the prominent guests were Nabam Vivek, MLA and Honorary Secretary of the Arunachal Cricket Association (ARCA), recognised for his pivotal role in strengthening sports governance and advocating youth-focused sports development, and Geda Kabak, Vice President of ARCA, known for his efforts in promoting grassroots cricket and nurturing emerging talent from across the state’s districts.
The spotlight, however, was firmly on TNR Mohit, who has emerged as a beacon for the state’s cricketing aspirations.
Mohit’s breakout first-class season for Arunachal Pradesh featured 19 wickets, including an extraordinary nine-wicket haul on debut against Sikkim — a performance that brought him into the national spotlight.
His consistent bowling displays in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy further cemented his reputation as a calm and effective match-winner under pressure.
Speaking at the event, Mohit said wearing the Kameng Kings jersey was “not just about playing cricket — it’s about representing the hopes of a region,” adding that while his debut haul was special, he was more excited about what the team could achieve together in the upcoming season.
The franchise’s principal sponsor, Arvind Tadakamalla, said supporting Kameng Kings was “more than a sponsorship — it’s an investment in the youth and future of Arunachal,” underscoring the team’s vision of creating opportunities for local talent and fostering sporting excellence.
The launch also highlighted the Kameng Kings’ broader mission — to inspire, unite and elevate Arunachal cricket through a culture of talent, humility and teamwork.
With the backing of passionate supporters, a talented roster and committed leadership, the franchise aims to make a strong impression in its maiden appearance, and to contribute to raising the profile of cricket across Northeast India.
According to the statement, the Kameng Kings see the Techi Tagar Arunachal T20 Championship not just as a competition, but as a platform to showcase homegrown skill, strengthen community bonds, and nurture the next generation of cricketers from the region.
