Arunachal BJP president urges youths to embrace sports

ITANAGAR, Oct 11: The Arunachal Pradesh state BJP President, Kaling Moyung, on Saturday appealed to the youth of the state to actively participate in games and sports, emphasising the importance of maintaining a healthy body and sound mind.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 4th KIO North East Zone Karate Championship 2025, held at IG Park, Itanagar, he urged young athletes to strive for excellence, bring recognition to the state, and contribute to the nation’s glory.

The championship, officially declared open by Moyung, sees participation from over 700 players across North East India.

Participants, along with team officials, parents, and state managers, gathered to witness the event that marks a major milestone in promoting karate in the region.

Addressing the gathering, Moyung highlighted the value of daily exercise, discipline, and commitment to both studies and sports.

He reminded the youth that winning and losing are inherent parts of sports, but consistent effort, discipline, and sincerity can help anyone achieve their goals.

He encouraged players to avoid negative influences and bad habits and to contribute back by sharing their experiences with the younger generation.

“Youths are the future. To secure the future, we must focus on the present. Today, as students and athletes, you have a responsibility to play the game in its true spirit,” he said.

The ceremony also featured addresses by guest of honour Tarh Tarak, Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh State Food Commission, and special guests including Kyoshi Sanjeev Kumar Jangra of KIO and NESKFI, APAKA President Yarda Niki, and the organising committee officials.

The event was further attended by Nima Sange, Chairman of the AP State Resource Mobilisation and Programme Implementation Committee, and prominent KIO official Hanshi Premjit Sen.

During the event, players who achieved international recognition between 2024 and 2025 were felicitated. Notable awardees included Rayna Sinha, Pratik Dahal, Sinthoiba Thiyam, Rabikanta Singh from Manipur, Kynjailin Lyngdoh Mawnai from Meghalaya, and athletes from Assam such as Lohit Ahmed, Zian Choudhury, Hemphu Bongjang, Hanee Ali, Nishad Ali, as well as Arunachal Pradesh representatives including Abab Sangdo, John Sangdo, Sunday Bokar, Atum Sono, Lipin Ete, and Mepung Langdo.

Their achievements were recognized as examples of dedication and excellence in karate.

The 4th KIO North East Zone Karate Championship 2025 not only promotes competitive karate but also strengthens camaraderie and unity among participants from diverse states. The presence of senior officials and the recognition of international achievers underscore the championship’s significance in advancing regional karate, fostering sportsmanship, and motivating the next generation of athletes to excel both on and off the mat.
