He remarked that 1st November is a red-letter day in India’s history, as it marks the formation of several States and Union Territories across the country, from north to south and east to west. He highlighted the unique strengths and cultural heritage of each State and UT, while emphasizing the shared bonds and close connections these regions have with Arunachal Pradesh.
Governor Parnaik expressed gratitude to the people of these States and UTs for their significant contribution to the development of Arunachal Pradesh. He appreciated the participants for their vibrant cultural presentations that reflected India’s unity in diversity. The celebrations were marked by performances from members of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, North Eastern Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Rajiv Gandhi University, government departments and the local business community.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor highlighted the role of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in reinforcing national integration and deepening cultural understanding among citizens. He noted that the youth of the country are the greatest beneficiaries of the initiative, as it inspires them to appreciate India’s rich diversity and to actively uphold the nation’s cultural heritage.
Governor Parnaik further observed that students who had attended earlier State Foundation Day programmes as special guests of the Governor were inspired to present cultural items representing other States. This initiative encouraged students and youth to explore the cultural essence of different regions while also promoting their own cultural heritage. In line with this effort, students of Government Primary School, B Sector, Itanagar, were invited as special guests, giving them the opportunity to learn and experience the cultural traditions of other States.
The Governor and the First Lady interacted warmly with all participants over high tea, making the event both memorable and inclusive. The celebrations at Raj Bhavan served as a vibrant showcase of India’s diversity and unity, highlighting the spirit of collaboration, cultural exchange and national integration fostered by the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative.
