NAMSAI, June 19: In a bid to promote skill development and employment among rural youth, the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) organised an Awareness Camp-cum-Orientation Programme on the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) on June 19 at Basar in Leparada district.
The programme, as per an official statement, was led by Takam Tayu, District Coordinator of Leparada, and saw active participation from more than 70 individuals, including unemployed youth, Self-Help Group (SHG) members, Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) representatives, and key community stakeholders.
The awareness initiative was conducted with the objective of informing rural youth and local institutions about the numerous opportunities offered under the DDU-GKY scheme, which is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
The scheme focuses on empowering youth aged between 15 and 35 years from poor families through skill development and job placement in various sectors, thereby fostering sustainable livelihoods.
During the orientation, a detailed presentation was made outlining the structure, objectives, and benefits of the DDU-GKY scheme.
The audience was introduced to the scheme’s free residential training modules, industry-aligned curriculum, and the assured placement support available post-training.
Special emphasis was laid on the transparent enrolment process and the role of community mobilisation in ensuring that the scheme reaches beneficiaries in even the most remote corners of the district.
The session also featured motivational storytelling segments, where success stories of past beneficiaries from Arunachal Pradesh and neighbouring states were shared.
These case studies showcased the transformative impact of the programme, with several individuals securing employment in sectors such as retail, hospitality, healthcare, IT-enabled services, and more, following their skill training.
Addressing the gathering, Takam Tayu called upon local youth to take full advantage of the government-sponsored scheme.
He also encouraged PRI members and SHG leaders to play a proactive role in identifying eligible candidates and supporting them throughout the training and placement journey.
He emphasised the importance of community cooperation in achieving the mission’s goal of reducing rural unemployment and outmigration.
According to the official statement, ArSRLM has been implementing DDU-GKY across various districts in Arunachal Pradesh with a view to creating a skilled workforce that can cater to both local and national job markets.
In Leparada district, the mission aims to expand outreach and improve participation through regular awareness drives and coordination with grassroots institutions.
The event concluded with an open interaction session, where queries from the participants regarding training centres, documentation, course duration, and placement locations were addressed by the district team.
Participants expressed enthusiasm about the career opportunities available under the scheme and welcomed further engagement from the mission in the days ahead.
The Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive rural development and reiterated that programmes like DDU-GKY are essential pillars of the state’s strategy to build a self-reliant and empowered youth population.
