CM Pema Khandu, Dy CM Chowna Mein pay floral tribute to late mother of Taba Tedir

Across Party Lines: Leaders Come Together to Condole Late Taba Yaja’s Passing

ITANAGAR, Sept 9: The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, along with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, ministers, senior officials, and public leaders, visited Belo village in Keyi Panyor on Tuesday to pay floral tribute to the late Taba Yaja, mother of former Minister Taba Tedir, an official statement said.

The condolence visit took place as the team was returning to Itanagar after a four-day tour of Anjaw and Lower Subansiri districts.

The tour was aimed at inaugurating developmental projects, interacting with local communities, and participating in the “Cabinet Apke Dwar” initiative at Ziro in Lower Subansiri district.

Accompanying the chief minister and deputy chief minister were several dignitaries, including minister for environment & forest Wangki Lowang, minister of agriculture Gabriel Denwang Wangsu, Commissioner to the CM Sonam Chombay, chairman of the Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA) John Neelam, Lishi Yapu Wahge (wife of Health & FW Minister Biyuram Wahge), Kamle SP Techi Henyir, Keyi Panyor SP Angad Mehata, and other political leaders, community representatives, and well-wishers.

In a social media message, chief minister Pema Khandu expressed deep condolences, stating, “With profound reverence, I offer my heartfelt Shraddanjali to Late Taba Yaja, beloved mother of former Minister Taba Tedir. May her soul attain Sadgati and may the family find strength and solace during this difficult time. Om Shanti.”

Former Minister Taba Tedir, expressing gratitude, wrote, “My deepest gratitude to the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, for their gracious presence during the last rites of my beloved mother, Late Taba Yaja, beloved wife of Late Taba Tat, PI (Rtd.). Your kind presence, condolences, and words of comfort have given us immense strength in this difficult time. We are truly humbled and honoured by your solidarity and support, which will always remain etched in our hearts.”

The last rites for Late Taba Yaja were performed on Monday at her native village in Belo, Keyi Panyor district.

The ceremony witnessed participation from people cutting across party lines, religious affiliations, and professional backgrounds.

Several lawmakers, political leaders, social workers, community leaders, and members of local organizations gathered to pay their respects.

Among those present were former chief minister and North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECC) Chairman Nabam Tuki, former minister Lishi Legi, Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung, as well as senior police and civil officers including IGP Chukhu Apa, Taba Tusar, Keyi Panyor SP Angad Mehata, Naharlagun SP Nyelam Nega, Secretary Pige Legu, and Itanagar Capital DC Toko Babu.

Also present were SLUB Director Joram Pupa, Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) team led by Kani Nada Maling, Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh (BMS) team led by Ringu Chapo, Tebw Lappa Welfare Society (TLWS) led by President Taba Tara, Camdir Welfare Society (CWS) led by President TC Tok, along with representatives from various political parties, religious groups, and community organisations.

Born in 1935, Late Taba Yaja was the wife of the late Taba Tat, a respected public figure in the region.

Known for her dignity, kindness, and compassion, she was a beloved member of the community and leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom. Her passing has left a deep void among family, friends, and the wider community.

Condolences have poured in from across the state, including messages from chief minister Pema Khandu, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein, Home & Border Affairs Minister Mama Natung, and many others, reflecting the widespread grief and respect for her contributions to the community.
