KEYI PANYOR, Nov 6: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Keyi Panyor inaugurated a three-day Community Volunteer Disaster Response Training Programme at Tajgi, Paramputu, marking the start of a district-wide initiative to build a network of 100 trained community volunteers to serve as frontline responders during disasters.
The programme aims to strengthen community preparedness, response and resilience at the grassroots level. The training is being conducted under the guidance of seven NDRF-certified community volunteers, who now serve as designated instructors, along with two disaster response experts from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Regional Response Centre (RRC), Ziro.
Key focus areas of the training include search and rescue operations, fire safety, first aid and CPR, rope rescue techniques, disaster safety protocols and community preparedness. Following the inaugural session at Tajgi, additional training batches will be held in Deed from November 10 to 12 and in Yazali from November 13 to 15, 2025.
During the launch, DDMA officials emphasised the importance of community participation in disaster management, noting that a well-prepared community forms the first line of defense during crises. The initiative underscores DDMA Keyi Panyor’s commitment to fostering a safer and more resilient district by empowering citizens with essential emergency response skills and confidence.
