TUTING, Aug 16: This year’s Independence Day in Tuting subdivision of Arunachal Pradesh was marked not only by traditional celebrations but also by a unique initiative of service aimed at improving the lives of people in remote areas.

An eye care camp was organised in the subdivision, bringing much-needed medical assistance to local communities and symbolising the spirit of solidarity between citizens and soldiers.

According to an official statement, the camp was held in collaboration with Bright Vision, with the objective of extending essential eye care to tribal communities in the region.

A total of 130 villagers received free eye check-ups, while spectacles were distributed to those in need. Patients diagnosed with more serious conditions were referred to advanced medical facilities for specialised treatment.

The Indian Army played a key role in the success of the initiative.

From coordinating with medical teams and arranging venues to extending logistical and administrative support, the Army ensured that professional eye care reached villagers who often remain outside the easy access of healthcare services.

In an area where availability of specialised treatment is a challenge, the intervention was timely and impactful.

For the local population, the camp meant more than routine medical aid.

Villagers expressed gratitude to the Army for facilitating the outreach on Independence Day, describing it as a gesture of care, inclusion and reassurance that their needs were being recognised.

The initiative, they said, strengthened the bond between the armed forces and the community, while also adding a deeper meaning to the national celebration.

The official statement noted that the eye camp restored sight for many and offered hope to all, serving as a living example of unity and service.

It highlighted that Independence Day celebrations are not only about ceremonial displays of patriotism but also about touching lives, addressing real challenges and reinforcing trust between the nation’s institutions and its people.

The camp concluded with a renewed sense of connection and collective resolve, reminding all present that true freedom lies in building a stronger, healthier and more inclusive society.
