ITANAGAR, July 17: The Itanagar Capital Complex District Administration has issued a traffic advisory announcing the closure of the Ganga Market to Jullang village road for restoration work starting July 22, following reports of serious erosion along a portion of the stretch.
According to an official statement, the closure comes in response to a request from the Public Works Department (PWD), Capital Division “B” Itanagar, which submitted a formal letter highlighting the precarious condition of the CC pavement road via Richi village.

The department cited significant erosion of the road formation, warning that the stretch is now in a hazardous state and poses a major risk to commuters, pedestrians, and nearby property.
“The road is hanging in a dangerously eroded state and may collapse at any time, which could lead to untoward incidents. In view of this, the district administration has decided to restrict pedestrian and vehicular movement along the stretch as a precautionary measure,” deputy commissioner Toko Babu informed the media.
The DC further stated that while it was not immediately possible to halt all traffic, limited time has been granted before the full implementation of the restriction to allow for preparatory measures.
The road will remain closed until restoration work is complete.
“In the interest of public safety and security, the movement of pedestrians and vehicles along the CC pavement from Ganga Market to Jullang village will be restricted from July 22 until further notice,” the advisory read.
The PWD authorities have also been directed to install barricades, signboards, and public notices at both ends of the affected road segment to alert commuters.
The department has been instructed to initiate restoration work at the earliest to minimise inconvenience.
The district administration has appealed to the public to cooperate and adhere to the advisory in the interest of life and property.
