ITANAGAR, July 29: The newly elected President of the Kickboxing Association of Arunachal (KAA), Tapa Singdak, has called upon all state-level office bearers and executive members to join hands for the holistic promotion and development of kickboxing in Arunachal Pradesh.

Speaking at the first state-level meeting of KAA office bearers held at a city hotel in Itanagar, Singdak urged everyone involved in the association to take a collective pledge to work toward strengthening the presence of the sport across the state.

According to an official statement, the KAA President emphasised that Arunachal Pradesh is making significant strides in various fields, and kickboxing, like other popular sports, must also evolve and receive the attention it deserves.

He highlighted that the progress of kickboxing would be achievable only through mutual support, consistent teamwork, and a focused agenda to bring young talent into the spotlight.

“Today, sports is not just a hobby but a booming industry. It offers opportunities to those passionate about it to build a rewarding career and earn name and fame for the state and the country,” Singdak said, urging youth to seriously pursue their interest in sports, particularly kickboxing.

He pointed out that various government provisions such as reservations of 5% to 10% in different departments, including the police, for meritorious sportspersons, should serve as a motivation for aspiring athletes to take up the sport professionally.

Singdak further encouraged the members to prepare themselves to contribute meaningfully to the state’s sporting ecosystem by identifying, nurturing, and supporting players at the grassroots level.

He also reminded them that the role of each executive member was not just administrative but also inspirational—to motivate the younger generation to take up kickboxing and stay away from harmful habits such as drug abuse.

KAA General Secretary Charu Govin, who was re-elected to the post, echoed similar sentiments and stressed that games and sports were crucial tools for maintaining both physical fitness and mental well-being.

He appealed to all district-level office bearers to begin the grooming of young players in their respective regions so that a strong pool of athletes could be built to represent the state and the country in national and international competitions.

KAA Executive Member Hura Maming, Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) Observer Pakjar Taipodia, and Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA) Observer Dari Lokam also addressed the gathering.

Each speaker highlighted the importance of discipline, dedication, and consistency in sports and reiterated their support for the kickboxing community.

Electoral Returning Officer (ERO) Advocate Charu Kojum, who conducted the election process, administered the oath of secrecy to the 25 newly elected and selected members of the state office bearers and executive committee.

All members took the pledge to work with integrity for the promotion of kickboxing and other sports disciplines in the state and to remain committed to a drug-free, performance-driven sports culture.

The official statement concluded by stating that the newly constituted body has resolved to work with renewed energy and commitment to ensure that kickboxing gains a strong foothold in Arunachal Pradesh and that deserving players receive the platform and support they need to excel.
