NAHARLAGUN, Oct 3: A man allegedly collecting money from unemployed youths under the false pretext of providing jobs has been apprehended by Naharlagun Police.
The accused, identified as 40-year-old Zarli Gongo, had claimed to operate a firm named Subansiri Private Security Service and Job Placement Agency at Model Village, Naharlagun.
A complaint was filed on September 16, 2025, prompting the registration of a case under NLG PS Case No 134/25 U/S 318(3) BNS.
Preliminary investigations revealed that between July and August 2025, Gongo collected amounts ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 from several unemployed youths through cash and online transfers via GPay.
He allegedly promised jobs such as Gunmen, Store Keeper, Security Guard, and Security Supervisor in various establishments.
Gongo, who had been absconding, was arrested from the Jote area in a police operation led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, OC PS Naharlagun, assisted by SI Tapu Sarke and the Chimpu Police team.
Superintendent of Police, ICR, Jummar Basar, APPS, urged the public, particularly unemployed youths, to remain cautious and not fall prey to such fraudulent schemes.
He emphasised that youths should pursue employment opportunities with sincerity and hard work, and verify the credentials of agencies promising jobs.
The police have initiated further investigations into the case.
