YINGKIONG, Dec 29: A district-level meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), organised by the District Police, was held on Monday at the DC Office Conference Hall here to review actions taken by various stakeholders to combat drug-related activities in the district.
The meeting was chaired by SDO (HQ) Toni Mitkong, who stressed the need for continuous monitoring and strict surveillance to prevent the spread of drug abuse and trafficking.
Expressing concern over network shadow areas between Padu and Silli villages, he directed the SDO (Telecom) to expedite the operationalisation of mobile network connectivity, stating that the lack of connectivity was hampering effective monitoring of drug-related cases and adversely affecting the general public.
During the deliberations, DAO Dana Moyong outlined steps taken by the Agriculture Department as part of anti-drug initiatives.
A representative of the ABK also briefed the meeting on awareness programmes and action plans being implemented by the ABK Upper Siang unit to curb drug abuse.
At the outset, DySP Gocham Sakter welcomed the participants and highlighted the objectives of the meeting.
All district-level NCORD members, special invitees and officials of the District Police attended the meeting.
