Jha was succeeding by both sides in an event of participation. Led by its president, Oni Tamuk, the ESDDAPF delegates included vice-president Nalo Ering and general secretary Jobomchang Mengu in the meeting. NHPC needed Major Amar Nath Jha, General Manager (Civil) and Head of Project for the Siang Lower Project, to brief participants about some key objectives and regional benefits of the project.

Jha emphasized  that in South Asia the project may secure water, moderate flood, and generate hydropower while opening up local development through infrastructural improvement, employment, and welfare programmes. The dam will help reduce flash floods and erosion of riverbanks downstream, while enhancing the safety and sustainability of the Siang basin, offering protection to the Adi community.

Replying to the community’s concerns, NHPC would assess the lands vulnerable to soil erosion due to dam discharge, to be incorporated in the Environmental Management Plan (EMP), at the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage. The meeting ended on an optimistic note in both sides stressing an open door policy, mutual respect and collaboration in ensuring that Siang Upper Multipurpose Project meets both development and environment interests.
