ITANAGAR, Aug 21: The Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of the Eighth Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh convened its fourth sitting today at the Assembly Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Dr Mohesh Chai, Chairman of the Committee.
According to an official statement, the sitting was held to examine departmental responses to audit observations raised in the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Report.
During the meeting, four departments—Tourism, Lottery, Science and Technology, and Public Works—appeared before the Committee to present oral evidence related to audit findings.
The Committee engaged in detailed discussions and deliberations with departmental representatives to assess compliance, accountability, and the course of corrective measures to be taken in response to the audit observations.
The statement noted that the deliberations were aimed at ensuring financial discipline and transparency in the functioning of the departments concerned, in line with the Committee’s mandate of overseeing public expenditure and holding the executive accountable.
Members of the PAC who attended the sitting included Wanglin Lowangdong, HMLA, Topin Ete, HMLA, and Toko Tatung, HMLA.
Senior officials present included the Principal Accountant General, the Commissioner of Finance, the Secretary of Planning, and officers of the Assembly Secretariat, among them Secretary APLA Tadar Meena and Additional Secretary Agaab Mossang.
The Public Accounts Committee plays a vital role in legislative oversight by examining government accounts and audit reports to ensure that funds are utilised effectively and in accordance with the law.
The official statement added that the Committee, through such sittings, seeks to strengthen good governance and uphold accountability in the state’s administration.
