TAWANG, Oct 10: The Deputy Commissioner of Tawang, Namgyal Angmo, IAS, chaired the Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC) meeting of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Tawang, on Friday, during which key issues related to academic progress, infrastructure, and student welfare were reviewed in detail.
The visiting dignitaries and committee members were accorded a warm reception by the students and faculty, led by Principal ML Meena, who welcomed the Deputy Commissioner and other VMC members to the campus.
The meeting saw the participation of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Rinchin Leta, Executive Engineer (PWD) Tadar Nyakpu, Senior Medical Officer Dr Thutan Tsering (representing the DMO), Assistant Engineer (Electrical) Nima Tsering, Assistant Engineer (PHED) Anil Kumar, Block Education Officer (Headquarters) Thutan Wangchu, public leader Tenzin Monpa, as well as representatives of parents, alumni, and students.
In his presentation, Principal ML Meena provided a comprehensive overview of the school’s development and recent accomplishments.
He highlighted JNV Tawang’s remarkable performance in CBSE examinations and its consistent success in regional and national-level competitions, crediting the dedication of both students and teachers for maintaining high academic standards.
He urged the committee members and community representatives to encourage talented but economically disadvantaged students from rural areas to appear for the JNV Selection Test, which provides access to quality education free of cost.
He also informed the gathering about the various scholarship programmes available for meritorious students preparing for competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE, and sought collective efforts to ensure that deserving students benefit from these opportunities.
During the open discussion session, several issues and challenges faced by the school administration were deliberated upon, including infrastructure upgrades, availability of resources, and maintenance requirements.
The Deputy Commissioner sought suggestions from all members and assured necessary administrative support to address the concerns in a phased manner.
Following the meeting, students organised an impressive exhibition showcasing working science models, innovative projects, clay crafts, yoga demonstrations, and a cultural performance that reflected the rich diversity and creativity of the student community.
A special highlight of the event was the presentation of a hand-drawn portrait of DC Namgyal Angmo by the students, a gesture that deeply moved her.
Expressing appreciation, she commended the students for their artistic talent and lauded the teachers for fostering such creativity and discipline among learners.
The VMC members collectively praised the enthusiasm, innovation, and discipline displayed by the students and acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the faculty and administration in nurturing young minds and maintaining the school’s reputation as one of the leading institutions in the district.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to continue extending full cooperation to JNV Tawang in its mission to provide holistic education and prepare students for future challenges with confidence and integrity.
