DIPHU, May 4: Under Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, 200 students have received scholarship cheques of R. 5000, while another 29 persons received cheques of Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 for medical assistance under Diphu Legislative Assembly Constituency for the year 2021-22. The cheques were distributed during a ceremonial distribution of cheques held at Kala Kendra on Tuesday.

While distributing the cheques, the chief executive member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang said the scholarship to the students is to support their education. With the money, they can use it to buy books and study materials. The scheme is meant for students of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

He asked the students to be sincere in their studies in order to get good results. The CEM also urged the parents and students present to extend support in achieving quality education in the district.

Diphu MLA Bidyasing Engleng said not all students who applied for the scholarship could be accommodated as the fund is limited. But for the year 2022-23, if the fund increases then more students can apply for the scholarship.
