DIPHU, Nov 28: The 71st Death Anniversary of Khorsing Terang, the first Chief Executive Member of the then Mikir Hills District Council—now Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC)—was observed on Friday in Diphu, the administrative headquarters of KAAC.
Chief executive member Tuliram Ronghang led the tributes by garlanding the statues of the late leader at both the old and new Khorsing Terang Memorial Gardens in the morning.
Senior officials, public representatives and members of cultural organisations joined in offering floral tributes.
Speaking on the occasion, CEM Ronghang recalled Terang’s contributions to the growth and governance of the region and described him as a pioneering figure whose service continues to inspire generations.
An all-religion prayer was also organised for the eternal peace of the departed leader.
A drawing competition for children was held as part of the commemorative programme.
Those present included MP Amarsing Tisso; KAAC Chairman Raju Tisso; Executive Members Ritesh Enghi, Madhuram Lekthe and Richard Tokbi; Karbi Cultural Society president Humsing Bey; District Commissioner Nirola Phangchopi; Padmashree Dhaneshwar Engti; Members of the Autonomous Council; chairpersons of various boards and several dignitaries.
