DIPHU, April 28: The much-anticipated visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Diphu took place with massive attendance by the people.

Delivering his welcome address at the Peace, Unity and Development rally, chief executive member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang said it is a historic day for the people of Karbi Anglong.

CEM said, “I am very thankful to the Prime Minister for restoring peace in our trouble torn district. We are fully confident that the peace accord signed under your blessing will be honoured by both the State and the Centre and all the projects mentioned in the agreement will be fully implemented to bring much needed development in the hill regions.”

He also said, “Karbi Anglong is the largest Sixth Scheduled district in India and needs more funds for economic development. We need direct funding from the Central government, a minimum of Rs 5000 crore annual budget for all round development of Karbi Anglong.”
