Thousands of student union members, leaders and well-wishers attended the event, which began with the hoisting of the union flag by president Dipen Boro, followed by floral tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.

Recalling the long journey of the organisation, ABSU leaders said that despite many struggles and obstacles, the union has continued to move forward over time for the cause of establishing Bodo identity, dignity and community rights. This progress has been guided by the vision of Upendra Nath Brahma, popularly known as Bodofa, whose philosophy of “Live and Let Live” continues to inspire the movement.

The organisation also reflected on the objective behind the founding of ABSU in 1967 at the Tribal Rest House in Kokrajhar by spirited Bodo youths, pledging to work with renewed determination for the causes of the people and to address pressing community issues in the near future.

ABSU president Dipen Boro said, “We salute our elders for their relentless contribution and reaffirm our determination to uphold unity, strength and a vibrant Bodo community, while nurturing brotherly relations with our neighbouring communities.”
