ABSU forms RC for 57th Annual Conference in Dotma

KOKRAJHAR, Sept 1: A general meeting of the Kokrajhar district committee of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) was held at the Dotma HS School auditorium in Kokrajhar on Sunday.

The meeting was chaired by Kripesh Daimary, president of the Kokrajhar district committee, ABSU, and attended by ABSU general secretary Khanindra Basumatary, vice president Khwrwndao Wary, assistant general secretary Dinesh Brahma, MLA Lawrence Islary, and several leaders and members from different anchalik committees of Kokrajhar district.

The meeting thoroughly discussed the organisation of the upcoming 57th Annual Conference of the central committee of ABSU and the 56th Annual Conference of the Kokrajhar district committee, ABSU, scheduled to be held in the first week of February 2025.

A strong reception committee (RC) for the annual conference was formed, with Lawrence Islary, MLA of Kokrajhar East LAC, as chairman, and Shankarlal Brahma as convenor, along with 19 other subcommittees, to ensure the grand success of the event. The ABSU’s annual conference will be held with a four-day colourful programme scheduled at Dotma in Kokrajhar.

ABSU general secretary, Khanindra Basumatary, stated that the 57th annual conference of the students union will be organised as per the resolution passed during the delegate session of the Golaghat conference held in February last year. Accordingly, the reception committee was formed on Sunday. He mentioned that the Dotma session will mark the termination period of the existing body of the students union. The session will feature various colourful programmes, including sports, literary, and cultural competitions.

Basumatary added that the session will discuss various issues and matters related to the welfare and development of the Bodo community, particularly in the field of educational upliftment.

He informed that more than 5,000 delegates and observers from different district committees, state units, and university units across the state and nation are expected to participate in the annual conference.
