KOKRAJHAR, Feb 8: The 58th Delegate Convention of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) concluded on Saturday after a three-day-long programme held at Swlwngthai Fwthar, Tangla in Udalguri district.
The convention discussed various issues and aspects concerning the Bodo community, including educational upliftment, social development and maintaining peace and tranquillity across the state. During the delegate session, the students’ union adopted several resolutions focusing on quality education, social upliftment and safeguarding the dignity and integrity of the Bodo community.
An open session was held on the concluding day with ABSU president Dipen Boro in the chair. Former Governor of Meghalaya and retired Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG), Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary, attended the programme as the chief guest. Assam cabinet ministers Urkhao Gwra Brahma and Ranjit Kumar Dass, along with noted Gandhian and scholar Prof Ramesh Bhardwaj, graced the occasion as special guests.
Addressing the gathering, Mooshahary praised ABSU for its sustained initiatives towards the welfare and development of the student fraternity and for promoting community integration since its inception.
Speaking on the occasion, ABSU president Dipen Boro stated that the convention concluded successfully after three days of deliberations. He said the students’ union discussed various issues and welfare aspects related to the development of the Bodo community and reaffirmed ABSU’s commitment to work for the welfare and development of the Bodos and other downtrodden communities across the state.
On the second day of the convention on Friday, Assam cabinet minister for Education Dr Ranoj Pegu attended the programme. During the event, the minister felicitated the toppers of the 10th Central Talent Search (CTS) Examination for Classes IX and X conducted by ABSU, recognising their academic excellence and dedication.
Dr Pegu emphasised the importance of promoting skill-based learning and education in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to prepare students for the evolving demands of modern industries.
