TEZPUR, Sept 17: Darrang College recently conducted its students’ body election, and the results were unveiled on Friday evening. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) emerged victorious in the majority of the major positions, showcasing their dominance in the election held on September 14. Out of the 15 available positions, ABVP candidates secured wins in key roles including the president, general secretary (GS), assistant general secretary (AGS), gymnasium, literature, outdoor games, indoor games, general sports, and social service. These positions were respectively claimed by Om Choudhury, Samarjit Mahanta, Rahul Ghimire, Pinakish Bhuyan, Sandhya Devi, Irfan Ali Hussain, Tankeswar Hemrom, Pranabjyoti Doley, and Raj Sarmah. Bijoy Borah, the sole candidate supported by Asom Chatra Parishad, emerged as the winner of the debate and discourse secretary post. The remaining positions, including vice president, cultural, art and craft, boy’s common room, and girl’s common room, were secured by candidates supported by AASU, namely Dhritiman Das, Debajit Deka, Swapnil Kashyap, Madhurjya Nath, and Rijumani Daimari. It’s worth noting that Rijumani Daimary and Madhurjya Nath emerged victorious uncontested in their respective contests.
