Act of revenge: Woman stabbed to death in Nagaon

NAGAON, Sept 26: In a shocking incident, a youth identified as Subrata Majumdar of Lanka in Hojai district, allegedly stabbed a woman identified as Rubi Dutta, to death with a knife at her Ramakrishna Path residence in the town late on Sunday night.

Police immediately reached the spot and arrested the accused.

A mobile phone smeared with blood, which he allegedly snatched from the victim was also seized from his possession right after his arrest, sources said.

Sources claimed that the arrested Subrata Majumdar earlier worked as a salesman at Raj Medical owned by Rajdeep Dutta, the husband of the victim at Nagaon Daccapatty area and accused used to live at Rajdeep’s old residence.

Majumdar’s service was terminated a few months back due to his irregularities in his services and was asked to leave their house.

Following the recent developments, the youth in a fit of anger, and in a bid to take revenge on Rajdeep Dutta in this regard, came to his residence at Ram Krishna Path in the town on Sunday night.

When he found that Rajdeep Dutta was not home, he leaped on his wife Rubi Dutta in front of her 11 year old son and stabbed her to death with a sharp knife, sources said, adding that during interrogation, the arrested youth had already admitted to his involvement in the crime.
