DIBRUGARH, Oct 5: In a significant step towards peace and rehabilitation, a female cadre of the NSCN (IM), identified as Shikngam Wangpan, surrendered before the Assam Rifles in Khonsa Town, Tirap District, Arunachal Pradesh.
The surrender followed months of sustained efforts by Assam Rifles personnel, who engaged with her through counselling, motivation, and moral support. Their persistent and compassionate approach helped her understand the futility of violence and encouraged her to choose a peaceful and dignified life.
This act highlights the Assam Rifles’ commitment to both maintaining security and fostering peace through dialogue and understanding. The force continues to motivate misguided youth to shun violence and contribute positively to society.
