Actor Phwilao Basumatary passes away

KOKRAJHAR, April 23: A well-known TV series artist and singer, Phwilao Basumatary, popularly known as Basu Da passed away on Tuesday night after a health complications at a private hospital in Guwahati.

According to source, Phwilao Basumatary, who is popular comedian artist in the Beharbari Outpost,a TV series, was admitted to a private hospital on Tuesday morning due to health issues, and breathed his last at around 10 pm.

He was going under treatment for liver and diabetes since past few months. He was a singer, lyric in Bodo language and Assamese that he was associated with Bodo cinema world and cultural activities.

He hailed from Baksa district. His lifeless body was taken to his native Baksa, and funeral was performed after performing rituals at his native village.

He leaves behind son and daughter beside his wife. He was 54.

Several hundred people cutting across the communities and organisations have thronged at his home to pay last respect to Phwilao Basumatary.

The TV series viewers have expressed their deep condolences and mourning said that they would miss him forever as he was well-known TV artist,singer and popularly known as Basu Da.

Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region has expressed his deep shocked and condolences on the suddenly death of Phwilao Basumatary.

“I’m deeply saddened by the untimely demise of renowned actor Failao Basumatary. A gifted artist whose evocative performances enriched the cultural tapestry of Assam and BTR, his loss leaves a void that can never be filled. My heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and countless admirers. May his noble soul rest in eternal peace”, CEM Boro said.

Various organisations and individuals Bodo Cine Artist Association, noted Bodo actor Fwila J Borgoyary have extended their deep condolences and mourning on the demise of Phwilao Basumatary.
