MARGHERITA, Sept 14: In a proactive move, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a key ally of the BJP, has signalled the beginning of preparations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. A significant development took place on Thursday, as a general meeting convened at the AGP office in Margherita, organised by AGP Margherita Zilla Parishad.
The meeting witnessed the participation of prominent figures, including Jyoti Moni Moran, the president of AGP Tinsukia Zilla Parishad; Pramod Bhengra, president of Asom Cha Parishad Central Committee; Sanjib Borah, AGP central executive member; representatives from Asom Mahila Parishad, Asom Yuva Parishad, Asom Cha Parishad, Asom Minority Parishad; as well as delegates from all 13 panchayats under the 124th number Margherita Constituency and representatives from the Margherita Municipal Board.
Labon Kumar Dohotia, the president of AGP Margherita Bidhan Parishad, hoisted the party’s flag and presided over the meeting. During the meeting, the AGP Margherita Bidhan Parishad Committee was dissolved, and a new committee was established, with Pradip Gogoi as the president and Uzair Alam Khan and Keshab Gogoi as the secretaries. The new committee comprises 31 members, as part of AGP’s strategic preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
