GUWAHATI, March 8: Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia on Saturday asserted that the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), the regional party, is the most trusted ally of the BJP.
Saikia, who visited the AGP headquarters in Guwahati’s Ambari, emphasised that the saffron party has maintained cordial relationships with its alliance partners across various states.
“Our alliance with AGP is strong and unshakable. AGP is the most trusted alliance partner of the BJP. The BJP knows how to sustain alliances. We have maintained solid relationships with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, JDU in Bihar, and other allies in different states,” he stated.
Saikia also praised AGP for remaining a reliable partner.
“We have allies across the north, south, east, and west of the country, but AGP has always been the most trusted partner of the BJP. We will contest the next year’s assembly polls together, with great strength,” he added.
Saikia also took an indirect jab at the Congress party, noting that the opposition had failed to form an alliance after last year’s bye-elections, particularly following the Congress’ unilateral declaration of its candidate for the Behali assembly seat. This declaration was significant, highlighting the divided opposition.
Saikia’s remarks were seen not only as a reaffirmation of the BJP-AGP alliance but also as a strategic move to emphasize the BJP’s stability in contrast to the opposition’s disarray. Political analysts believe the alliance between the BJP and AGP will play a pivotal role in securing a decisive victory in the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, AGP President and Minister Atul Bora said, “We have been strengthening the party organization with the aim of improving our performance in the next year’s assembly polls. We will also contest the upcoming Panchayat polls with full force.”
The AGP has been regularly organising meetings to increase its support base among voters.
