All Assam Poets’ Conference Kamrup unit holds first executive meet

GUWAHATI, Dec 15: The first executive meeting of the Kamrup district unit of the All Assam Poets’ Conference was held recently at the Yuva Vikas Kendra, Amingaon.

The meeting was chaired by district president Jagannath Kalita, while the objectives of the meeting were outlined by secretary Achyut Kalita.

Several proposals placed by the office bearers were discussed in detail.

The proceedings formally began with a devotional song rendered by Sabita Devi Barua.

Among those present were organising secretary of the All Assam Poets’ Conference Mrinal Bora, vice president Bhavesh Deka, advisors Anil Goswami, Manik Dutta, Pomi Goswami and Runumi Talukdar, vice president Dr Shewali Das Kalita, treasurer Shukleswar Mali, organising secretary Medini Mohan Bhattacharya, district assistant secretary Mirza Lutfur Rahman, magazine editor Champawati Kalita and newly appointed publicity secretary Dharmendra Bora.

Also in attendance were Chhaygaon branch president Anil Saud and secretary Mridul Kalita, Krishnachura branch president Himajyoti Talukdar, North Guwahati Poets’ Conference secretary Jayashree Sharma Bhattacharya, along with executive members Jon Deka, Bidita Bhattacharya, Sabita Devi Barua, Himali Kalita, Sanjay Kumar Das and Prithak Kalita.

As part of the programme, the novel “Jibanar Natun Khoj” (A New Step in Life) authored by Dr Shewali Das Kalita was formally released by president Jagannath Kalita.

The meeting also featured poetry recitations by participating poets.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by secretary Achyut Kalita.
