KHERONI, May 9: In response to the intensifying national security situation under Operation Sindoor targeting Pakistan, the District Magistrate of Karbi Anglong has issued an emergency directive revoking all permissions for cultural events and programs scheduled from May 10, 2025, onwards.
The directive, effective immediately, aims to ensure public safety and regional stability amid heightened security concerns. As an additional precaution, the District Magistrate has mandated that any cultural activities scheduled for May 9 must conclude by 10:00 PM, with no exceptions.
Officials emphasized that these measures are necessary to maintain law and order and prepare local resources for any contingencies that may arise during the ongoing national effort. Local residents and event organizers have been urged to cooperate fully with the administration and security agencies and refrain from public gatherings during this critical period.
