SIVASAGAR, Oct 6: Community priests from Hindu, Islam, Sikh, Buddhist, and Jain faiths offered prayers for legendary singer-composer-actor and social activist Zubeen Garg in front of the historic Shiva Doul. A large number of followers and Zubeen fans were present.
Krishna Surjya Nam Samaj, Sikh Samaj, Jain Samaj, Dwini Madrasa, Sungha Dipa Buddhist Samaj, Melachakar Mahila Nam Samaj, Baptist Mandali, and Magarahat Anajory Diha Nam Dal participated in the prayer session.
The session was conducted by Nabaneet Hazarika, Sarat Hazarika, Ratu Das, Bhoirav Munda, Himangshu Neog, Navajyoti Saikia, Munna Agarala, Neelam Kakoti, Manos Dutta, Zakir Hussain, Basanta Gogoi, Jyoti Pd Kalita, Achyut Chutia, Uddipta Duwara, Hrishikesh Duwara, and singer Pranami Sharma, who moved the gathering with her rendition of ‘Mayabini…’
Earlier, the Zubeen Fan Club organised a rally and collected signatures in blood on a canvas to pay tribute and demand a fair trial into the drowning incident and strict punishment for all involved in his tragic death.
