Amarsing Tisso hailed for raising issues of hill districts

DIPHU, Feb 6: The Karbi Students Association (KSA) and the KSA – Inglongpho lauded MP from 3 autonomous district (ST) parliamentary constituency, Amarsing Tisso for raising the issues of the hill districts of Assam on the floor of the Parliament.

He raised the motion during the Motion of Thanks of the President’s address on day four of the ongoing budget session on Tuesday last in New Delhi.

Tisso has called for an immediate implementation of Article 244 (A) of the Indian constitution for granting of Autonomous State, the full implementation of the Clauses of MoU and MoS 1 and 2, the upgradation of Assam University Diphu Campus into a full-fledged University and exemption in MIL subject in UPSC examination for candidates from the district of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.

Hailing the speech of Tisso, the KSA president Rongpi in a press conference held here said, “Since 1985 till now, the KSA has always been directly involved in the Autonomous State movement. Though the KSA has been divided into two groups, but are jointly in support of the movement,” Rongpi mentioned.

“We are in ASDC –CPI(ML), while KSA Inglongpho worked through the Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Autonomous State Demand Committee (KADHASDCOM). The movement witnessed both democratic and armed struggle,” he added.

Rongpi also mentioned the continued initiative taken up by the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang on the Autonomous State issue and said, “Our CEM Dr Tuliram Ronghang has not stopped talking about Autonomous State issue. Whether in his Republic Day speech or in New Delhi he always deliberated on the matter. Our CEM has convinced the central BJP leaders and several MPs that have allowed our MP Tisso to raise the issue in Parliament. The KSA will continue to support MP Tisso whenever he takes up the matter concerning the people of the hill districts.”

The KSA general secretary George Timung said that good things done should be appreciated. “As MP Amarsing Tisso has raised his voice for the cause of the people and should be appreciated. People should continue to support him for his insistence towards the cause of the people,” he urged.
