In her lecture, Dr Borthakur highlighted the contributions of marginalised voices and women in Assam’s anti-colonial movement. She spoke about the active participation of women in the nationalist movement under Gandhi’s leadership, breaking the confines of patriarchal norms and also shed light on numerous unsung women freedom fighters from different communities whose identities remain largely unknown.

The lecture was followed by a discussion session where scholars, learners and faculty members interacted with Dr Borthakur. A formal vote of thanks was offered by Farhin Hashmi.

After the session, Dr Borthakur participated in a radio talk programme at the KKHSOU EMPC studio, coordinated by Epahi Baruah and Farhin Hashmi. Faculty members Dr Sukmaya Lama, Dr Priti Salila Rajkhowa, Epahi Baruah and Brihatrabar Pegu coordinated the entire programme.
