DIPHU: Samagra Siksha, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) distributed aids and appliances to physically challenged children of various educational blocks of Karbi Anglong in a ceremony held at Dimasa Club here on Saturday.
A total of 114 children of elementary and 8 children of secondary level received the appliances from executive member (EM), KAAC, Education, Richard Tokbi. The appliances include tricycles, wheel chairs, CP chairs, elbow crutches, rollators, MSIED kit, smart cane, braille kits and smartphones.
On the occasion, the EM said Sarva Siksha Abhijan (SSA) is providing such aids and appliances to physically challenged children to support them in their education and normal life activities.

While giving away an appliance to a blind boy Kundan Sahu of Santipur, Deopani, the boy sang a Hindi song praising God. The EM applauded him and said there is talent in him. He is 16 years old and studying in Class 6 at Blind HS School, Guwahati.
The programme was conducted by district programme officer, IE component, SSA, Mayadi Hasnu and attended by joint secretary, KAAC and district mission coordinator, SSA, Nirupuma Timungpi; assistant district mission coordinator, Nayan Pathak; block mission coordinator (BMC), Lumbajong Block, Robinson Kathar; BMC, Bokajan Block Rita Engtipi and BMC, Langsomepi Block, Lirbon Ronghangpi.
