DIPHU, Dec 27: Appointment letters to village headmen were distributed in a function held at the official residence of the Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) of Lumbajong Johnny Timung on Tuesday.

On the occasion more than 100 appointment letters were given for the traditional Village Council in Lumbajong in Karbi Anglong.

The MAC on the occasion said, “Centrally it was done by the Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang and now it is constituency wise. The Government has done its part by appointing the headmen but they have to go back to pick the rest of the members of the Council through discussion.”

The MAC said that it is a matter of joy that the Karbis are enjoying the power of the Traditional Village Council after 70 years of the founding of KAAC.
