Asam Sahitya Sabha gears up for 11th Special Annual Conference

MORIGAON, Jan 23: The 11th Special Annual Conference of Asam Sahitya Sabha is scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 3 at Pasuraja Samanyai Khetra, Barapujia, in the district. The organising committee has been actively preparing for the literary event, setting up temporary offices, meeting halls, and stalls with the involvement of 34 sub-committees.

In a press meet organised by the publicity committee of the special conference at the reception committee’s office in Barapujia on Tuesday, Dr Upendrajit Sarma, the secretary-general of AX X, and Dr Pradeep Deka, the general secretary of the reception committee, addressed the media. They shared that the 11th Special Conference, with a budget of Rs 3 crore 67 lakh, will commence on January 31, 2024, and conclude on February 3, 2024.

The four-day program will begin on January 31 with paying respects to Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah at his birthplace in Ahatguri. The state president, vice-president, secretary-general, and executive members of the literary body will pay tribute at the statue of Lakshminath Bezbaruah. On February 1, the special conference will officially start with the hoisting of the organisation’s main flag. A colourful cultural rally, led by the state president, will mark the commencement of the conference.

The special conference will culminate on February 3 with the second open meeting of the event.
