TEZPUR, March 5: The ASHA convention for the session 2023 was held at Hilbilli premises in Mazgaon area here on Saturday.
Sonitpur DC Deba Kumar Mishra inaugurated the event by illuminating ceremonial light in presence of the ADC, Pankaj Nagbanshi, joint director, health, Jiauddin Ahmed, medical officers from different districts along with the health workers coming from across the state.
It was followed by the commemoration of the ASHA workers who had left for their heavenly abode. Gracing the event local MLA Prithiraj Rabha paid his tribute to the departed souls.
Addressing the ASHA workers, DC, Deba Kumar Mishra observed that child marriage is a social disease which drags some immature children of a section of underprivileged and educationally backward families in our society to an uncertain world. “It has become a deep-rooted social norm providing glaring evidence of widespread gender inequality and discrimination which can be considered a result of the interplay of economic and social forces.” Deba Kumar Mishra said urging the ASHA workers to work dedicatedly in diminishing the children and their mother’s death rate.
In his speech, MLA, Prithiraj Rabha urged the ASHA workers to work in the grass root to create awareness among the people. Among other dignitaries, joint director, Jiauddin Ahmed also spoke on the occasion while the ASHA workers besides sharing their experiences, presented a cultural programme to mesmerize all. At the end district community mobilizer, Mrinali Borah offered vote of thanks.
