DHUBRI, May 4: Ashok Singhal, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare of Assam, addressed a large public gathering at Dharmasala as part of the campaign to promote BJP candidates ahead of the panchayat elections scheduled for May 7. The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout as the minister appealed to voters to support the BJP and its ally, the AGP.
In a spirited speech, Singhal emphasized the importance of voting for candidates committed to development and unity. “Whether Hindu or Muslim, everyone must vote for BJP and AGP,” he said. He cautioned the public against being misled by the Congress party, stating, “Don’t get deviated by Congress. Give your vote to BJP candidates — they will work for you.”
Highlighting BJP’s development initiatives, the minister announced that 3,000 more Arunodaya schemes would be implemented in the region. He also pointed to the Dhubri-Phulbari bridge as a symbol of inclusive infrastructure, saying, “Both Hindus and Muslims will use this bridge — it is for everyone.”
Singhal accused the Congress of divisive politics and failing both majority and minority communities during their tenure. “The BJP does not do the politics of discrimination,” he declared. “We need to say goodbye to Congress and welcome an environment of change and development.”
He further asserted, “If a Congress candidate wins, he will join BJP within three days. So why not vote for BJP directly?”
Calling for unity and collective progress, Singhal urged participation from people of all religions, castes, and communities. “To drive the Chief Minister’s vision of development forward, we need the blessings and support of everyone in the state.”
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the event, the minister said, “The people will choose their representatives by looking at the developmental work we have already done.”
