JORHAT, Oct 11: Assam Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Excise, and Border Areas Development, Atul Bora, attended the live telecast of the launch of the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday at the Assam Agricultural University (AAU) campus in Borbheta, Jorhat.
The scheme forms part of a broader set of initiatives and projects worth over Rs 42,000 crore in the agriculture and allied sectors, launched today at a special agriculture programme in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stones for several other projects.

Addressing the gathering at AAU, Bora lauded the Narendra Modi-led Government at the Centre for implementing numerous initiatives aimed at the uplift of the agriculture sector and the welfare of farmers.
He said the launch of the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana represents yet another step forward in supporting agricultural growth and ensuring benefits reach the farming community.
The programme at AAU also featured addresses by State Agriculture Secretary Tej Prasad Bhusal and Dr Anup Kumar Das, Director of PG Studies at AAU.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr Manoranjan Neog, Director of Extension Education at the university.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Textiles and External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, attended the live telecast of the Prime Minister’s programme at Titabar alongside a group of local farmers.
During the visit, Margherita also inaugurated the Adarsha Anganwadi Centre at Kherema Banuwa Line in Titabar, constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh under the NABARD Infrastructure Development Assistance (NIDA) fund for 2023-24.
The launch of the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and associated projects underscores the central government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture, enhancing farmer incomes, and promoting sustainable development in rural areas, while the state leadership continues to facilitate awareness and participation among local farmers.
