Guwahati , Nov 05: Assam’s CID launched a statewide push late Wednesday against suspected forged academic certificates used in teacher recruitment, with Morigaon marked as the central point of action.
CID teams moved through Lahorighat, Bheloguri and Moirabari in Morigaon district, extending operations into the night. Raids and verification drives also ran parallel in Nagaon. The probe targets at least 50 candidates believed to have submitted fraudulent graduate and postgraduate certificates.
Officials are tracing documents linked to Techno Global University, Madhya Pradesh, which investigators say may have been used to enter the state’s education system.
Several individuals named in the inquiry fled before teams arrived. By Thursday morning, police confirmed that five to seven suspects were still missing. Lookout notices have been issued and border points alerted.
Locals gathered near the search sites as CID personnel examined premises under floodlights. Investigators expect further movement once forensic tests and digital tracking reports come in.
Preliminary inputs indicate that coordinated checks were conducted in other districts as well, but Morigaon remained central due to intelligence on earlier activity in the area.
