ā€œThe KAAC must ensure that all the schemes are implemented without any malpractice,ā€ he said on Monday after attending the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected KAAC members.

When asked about the up-gradation of the present KAAC to Territorial Council as per the pact with the United Peoples Democratic Solidarity (UPDS), he said, ā€œIt is a Territorial Council. When two or more districts are combined it is a Territorial council. Now it is a Territorial Council as two districts — Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong — are combined here.ā€

ā€œTo change from Autonomous Council to Territorial Council or other names it needs constitutional amendment. It is under discussion for a constitutional amendment for the renaming of the present KAAC to Territorial Council or other names. It is what the Karbi people want,ā€ the CM said.
