GUWAHATI, Feb 2: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a high-level review meeting with engineers of the Public Works (Roads) Department to assess the progress of major infrastructure projects across the state, Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) announced on Sunday.
The review focused on critical road and bridge projects under the Mukhyamantri Path Nirmaan Abhiyan (MPNA), Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), and State-Owned Priority Development (SOPD) initiatives.
Taking to the micro-blogging site X, the CMO stated, “HCM Dr. @himantabiswa chaired a review meeting with engineers of the Public Works (Roads) Dept. to assess key projects. Key highlights: Review of flyovers, bridges & major road projects under MPNA, RIDF & SOPD.”
The Chief Minister also evaluated the implementation of these schemes to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
Meanwhile, a major point of discussion was the progress of the elevated corridor from Guwahati Club to Noonmati, a crucial infrastructure project aimed at decongesting traffic in the capital city.
Sarma further emphasized the need for swift execution of the project to enhance urban mobility and ease transportation woes.
Additionally, the Chief Minister directed officials to develop Asom Mala roads as economic corridors, ensuring that they contribute to the state’s socio-economic growth.
“Progress of elevated corridor from Guwahati Club to Noonmati; Directive to develop Asom Mala roads as economic corridors for socio-economic growth”, the CMO added.
